October 6 University organizes a Medical Convoy and Opens a Permanent Clinic in Khamastashar Emara

October 6 University’s dedication to participate in Community Service and Environmental Development is translated in organizing a medical convoy to Khamastashar Emara neighborhood in 6th of October City. The convoy included many activities, with the participation of a delegation from (13) faculties at the university's level headed by Prof. Dr. Musa Ibrahim Musa, "Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Affairs. A clinic was opened to examine patients from the neighborhood. Many vice-deans, faculty and number of students have participated in the convoy.

The Faculty of Medicine played a major role in examining the patients and transferring cases that need to complete their treatment in the hospital. Moreover,  students organized an awareness campaign about ( Hepatitis C Virus), diabetes and the misuse of antibiotics as well as the basics of first aid, conducting 50 sugar checks, and transferring (44) cases to the hospital to complete their treatment. In addition the convoy dealt with (123) cases of pediatrics, (43) cases of surgery, (36) dermatology conditions, and (34) bone cases. Twenty-eight students from various study groups of the faculty of Medicine participated in the convoy. The Faculty of Dentistry participated in the awareness workshops and distributed free brushes and toothpastes to the participants in the previous workshops from the region, in addition to examining a number of patients.

         The Faculty of Pharmacy set up a temporary pharmacy inside one of the mosques to help fill prescriptions to patients. The total amount of prescriptions that were filled in the convoy amounted to"158 prescriptions" with a budget of twenty two thousand and seven hundred pounds. Dr. Samir Othman, Vice-Dean for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, also raised awareness of the smoking hazard through conducting a practical experiment with a bottle and a cigarette. The convoy raised the need to establish a first aid pharmacy.
          The Faculty of Physiotherapy provided the necessary support to the convoy by providing (2) consultants, (6) trainees, and (10) male and female students. A medical examination of (17) physical therapy sessions was carried out and patients were later transferred to University hospital to provide the necessary care and treatment to them.
          The Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences has participated in the awareness and the workshops in several fields, including a campaign educating children about the importance of hygiene in our lives and society, such as: cleaning the place (home, school, or the road, or helping parents to clean the house), a campaign to raise awareness about kidney failure, damage, negative effects and the reasons that cause to it along with clarifying the sound ways of dealing with the disease and the attempt at a recovery from it and an awareness of meningitis, its different types and ways to prevent it as well as the necessity for children to undergo vaccination to avoid infection.
           The Faculty of Engineering provided awareness campaigns and spreading attention about the importance of water, the conservation of it and the necessity of the rationalization of its consumption. This comes through the use of modern technology in all the different uses of water in our daily life.
The Faculty of Education has organized a number of campaigns to raise awareness about (Overpopulation, Terrorism, the importance of the environment, the harms of smoking and addiction in its various stages, the prominent role of the family in raising teenagers alongside the role played by the school. Many workshops were conducted about basic education for the first, second and third grade primary education, and about recycling household waste into works of art.
The Faculty of Economics and Management, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels and the Faculty of Applied Arts have participated along with a delegation of students to raise awareness in various fields.
On her part, Dr. Mona Yassin, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, has confirmed that an exhibition for productive families will be held in March 2020 with the participation of (24) productive women. The university will facilitate transportation. 
The Faculty of Media and Mass Communication had an important role in covering the convoy activities, the events it included and real aids provided.  It prepared a documentary film with the follow-up by Dr. Omaima Omran, Vice-Dean for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, Mohamed Rifai, Studio Director, and a delegation of the Faculty's students.
