Medical convoy to Primary Health Care Unit at Warrak Island

On Thursday 28th April 2016 Faculty of Medicine, October 6 University organized a medical convoy to a primary health care unit (Warrak island), Giza which has been established and supervised by Enactus October 6 University. Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Faculty of Computer science participated in the convoy. Almost all medical specialties were represented including, Internal medicine, orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Ear- nose and throat (E.N.T), and pediatrics as well as 22 Medical student, aimed at offering the most convenient medical service to remote deprived poor areas In the same context, The Faculty of Pharmacy shared by supplementing the commonly needed drugs, and Faculty of computer science was concerned with the process of Data filing and statistic analysis. The convoy provided diagnosis, treatment and health education for 281 cases internal medicine 54 cases, orthopedic Surgery 49 cases, E.N.T, 39 cases pediatrics 63 cases and ophthalmology 39 cases. In addition to 37 were referred to October 6 University hospital for further investigation and treatment.  Awareness lectures were presented to the attendance on parasitic diseases, Viral Hepatitis, diabetes Mellitus, addiction and side effects of drugs. The importance and method of proper hand wash was demonstrated to the attendance. Questionnaire to assess the patient’s satisfaction and the community needs were distributed by the end of the day.
