This course is designed to meet the needs of intermediate level nursing students of baccalaureate degree level. It aims to introduce the students to the basic knowledge and skills necessary for the care of individuals with medical problems. Emphasis should be put on the pathophysiological aspects of illness and the different modalities of medical treatments including drugs, and other procedures, and the related aspects of medical condition. However, the student should integrate knowledge from other supporting courses taken previously or simultaneously. Complimentary to this course is Surgical Nursing taught in the following semester. Core concepts of Medical Nursing are also used as foundations for the study of Surgical Nursing with special emphasis on Surgical Nursing Management.
