 A report on the clinical training for students of the Faculties of Pharmacy in the Clinical Pharmacy Unit, October 6 University Hospital, on th end -year vacation (2019-2020)

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Hassan Kohiel, Dean of the faculty of Pharmacy, a clinical training was held in clinical pharmacy unit at O6U hospital.  The training included 150 students from different academic years: third, fourth and fifth and different university who had practiced on critical care clinical pharmacy cases.

The nature of the training:

 1. Training in Intensive Care and Cardiac Resuscitation Units at the hospital of October 6 University.

2. Lectures given experts in the field of clinical pharmacy on issues related to chronic diseases, and how the clinical pharmacist can deal with them and his role.

3. Discussion seminars between students about the medical conditions that they followed up daily during the training in the presence of the training supervisor.

§  Dr. Al-Shaimaa Ibrahim, director of the Clinical Nutrition Unit at the Fayoum Cancer Center

§  In the presence of  Prof. Dr. Samir Othman, Vice-Dean for Community Service Affairs

The schedule  of the training process:

The training was carried out regularly, professionally, and cooperatively the required, as follows:

1. Recording all students attendance as there are limits for training hours.

2. Distribution for all students on intensive care units and hospital lectures according to schedules.

3. A assessment was performed for estimation students' level.

4. Seminars on the medical cases carried out by the participating students.

5. Case presentations by the students, evaluated scientifically and technically by the training supervisors.

6. A Post assessment to all students to evaluate  students' advancement.

On the student side,

All students expressed their admiration and enthusiasm during the training period,

they appreciated their practical, scientific and professional outcomes, stressing that they have acquired new skills and experiences in dealing with patients, identifying various medical conditions, and treating them.

 they also learnt the role of the pharmacist in intensive care, how to participate in medical decision-making for the patient, calculating drug doses to make the intervention decision  from global drug programs.

 All this qualifies the student to deal with the work market with a great professionalism.
