Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Jamal Sami, the University President, and Professor Dr. Eman El-Azizy, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, a team from the Faculty of Dentistry participated in the EDIX Universities Excellence Cup. The competition aimed to select outstanding models to represent Egyptian universities in international competitions, and it was conducted in collaboration with the National Research Center as a neutral scientific entity.
The team, comprised of Fatima Abu Elwafa Ahmed Abdallah, Mariam Alaa El-Din Amer, Shahab Ahmed Sayed Nabawi Suleiman, Youssef Sabry Farouk Abdelmaati El-Qamati, and Rawan Adel Meligy El-Sayed Awda, was supervised by Dr. Dina El-Kharadly, a faculty member at the Pediatric Dentistry Department and the leader of the youth.
The competition featured the participation of 25 teams representing various government and private dental colleges across the nation. It took the form of a theoretical exam with multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in seven clinical specialties, designed to gauge students' grasp of the subjects. The specialties included conservative treatment, endodontics, fixed prosthodontics, removable prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, pediatric dentistry, and orthodontics.
The awards and honors were distributed during the conference's closing ceremony on Thursday, August 17. The University of 6th of October claimed the championship trophy and a monetary prize of fifty thousand Egyptian pounds, which was distributed among the participating students.
