On November 9, 2017, the Department of Cultural Relations organized a second seminar entitled "She Can" as part of awareness of women's empowerment issues nationally, regionally and globally. The seminar also comes within the framework of raising awareness of the role of women in sustainable development, in line with the 17 UN goals adopted by the UN Summit on Sustainable Development in September 2015.
In his welcoming opening speech, Ambassador Dr. Kheireldin Abdellatif, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees, explained the philosophy of work at the University in the framework of the implementation of the goals of the United Nations, which is based on the multi-interdisciplinary approach in dealing with women's issues.
Mr. Yasser Al-Shemi, Representative of the Arab Women Organization at the League of Arab States, spoke about the organization and its activities aimed at integrating women into the sustainable development agenda until 2030, protecting women from the dangers of armed conflict and violence, eradicating poverty and promoting a community culture that protects women and builds their capacities.
The seminar was attended by a number of public figures representing the media, civil society and various initiatives in the field of women's empowerment, in the presence of a large number of students who interacted remarkably with the events.
