The Eleventh Annual Scientific Student Conference of the Faculty of Medicine-October 6 University-was held on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Dr. Ali Tal'at, the Vice President of Education and Student Affairs; Professor Dawlat AlMelegy, the Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs; Professor Amr Abou El- Ela, the Vice Dean of Post-graduate Studies and Research; a group of the faculty staff members, some parents; and about 550 students from various levels; altogether attended the conference. It was organized by Dr. Ahmed Desouqy, Assistant Professor at the Department of Physiology, in collaboration with the Students’ Union and students of the Scientific Society, under the supervision of Professor Dawlat AlMelegy, the Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs. The conference started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran followed by honoring the Faculty’s first-rank students, the ideal students, brilliant members of the cultural and sports activities, and members of the Students' Union, members of the Scientific Society. The students honored Professor Dawlat Melegy, the Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs, in appreciation for her great support to them. Then, the students started to give their feedback on the educational process, its pros and cons as well. Consequently, Prof. Ali Tal'at, the Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dawlat AlMelegy gave their comments. Thereafter, a group of the Faculty’s members of staff started doing presentations on their recent scientific research papers in the field of medicine, while the students gave presentations on their own scientific research papers under the supervision of the Faculty’s professors. At the end of the conference, some students showed off their talents in poetry, singing and music. Prof. Dr. Ali Ta'lat, the Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, recommended having a copy of the students’ comments on the educational process in order to review their suggestions and demands for enhancing the faculty services.
