National Security and Contemporary Challenges in Our Digital World
As part of 6th of October University's commitment to raising awareness among its students about national issues and modern technological challenges, the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences Technology and the Faculty of Information Systems and Computer Science, in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering, organized a scientific seminar entitled "National Security and Contemporary Challenges in Our Digital World."
The seminar was held under the supervision of the following deans of the Community Service and Environmental Development sector:
Prof. Dr. Amal Sabry, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Applied Technology;
Prof. Dr. Hinar Abu El-Magd, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Faculty of Engineering;
Associate Professor Dr. Hossam El-Beheiry, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Faculty of Information Systems and Computer Science.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Dr. Ghada Mohamed Amer, Strategic Expert and Artificial Intelligence Consultant at the Decision Support Center of the Cabinet and Advisor at the Military Academy for Postgraduate Studies. During the seminar, she addressed the concept of national security in light of digital transformation and the role of technology in shaping our contemporary reality. She explained how digital tools have become an influential element in various aspects of daily life, whether in education, work, or social interaction.
She also emphasized the importance of the conscious use of technology, explaining that its misuse can lead to numerous risks affecting individual and societal security, such as the spread of rumors, cyberattacks, and a negative impact on public awareness.
The seminar included a presentation of illustrative images and videos that demonstrated the impact of technology on our daily lives and how it can transform from a tool for progress into a threat to digital security when used irresponsibly.
The seminar witnessed significant interaction from faculty members and students, who showed great interest in the lecture topic and actively participated by asking questions and engaging in constructive discussions, thus creating a positive and productive dialogue.
At the conclusion of the seminar, commemorative photos were taken with the attendees, amidst an atmosphere of appreciation and admiration for the presented content.
