Visit to Timur El-Hadidi's Villa in Sheikh Zayed City
As part of the Faculty of Engineering's commitment to supporting the educational process and bridging the gap between academic theory and practical application, the Department of Architectural Engineering organized a field trip for students of the Architectural Design (1) course to Timur El-Hadidi's villa in Sheikh Zayed City, under the supervision of Dr. Amani Saqr and Dr. Mohamed El-Falafly.
The visit aimed to introduce students to sustainable building methods and the use of recycled materials in modern architecture. During the tour, students learned about designer Timur El-Hadidi's experience in creating an unconventional house that embodies the concept of a "dream home" by using solid waste and recycled building materials to achieve sustainability and reduce costs.
The students learned about the project's key components, including the use of plastic bottles in the walls, crushed concrete rubble in the foundations, and recycled car tires and wood in the construction elements and furniture, making the project a pioneering model for environmentally friendly building in Egypt.
The visit witnessed great interaction from the students, who expressed their admiration for the innovative idea and their interest in sustainable design methods. At the end of the visit, Dr. Amani Saqr emphasized the importance of this experience in promoting architectural and environmental awareness among students and encouraging them to innovate and use resources in environmentally friendly ways.
