Winning Second Place in the Water Sustainability Hackathon

The Faculty of Information Systems and Computer Science at October 6 University proudly achieved second place in the “Water Sustainability Hackathon” held as part of the Cairo Water Week 2025 events.
As part of the Cairo Water Week 2025 Conference, the Regional Training Center for Water Resources and Irrigation (affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation) announced the success of the faculty team in winning one of the top awards in the hackathon. The competition aimed to support innovation and encourage Arab and African youth to present smart, sustainable solutions to water management challenges.
The hackathon reflected the ministry’s commitment to utilizing modern technology and digital transformation in the water sector. Participants from Egypt and several African countries showcased innovative projects that combined artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to serve sustainable development goals related to water.
During the hackathon session, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation honored the winners, presenting awards and certificates of appreciation. He praised the students’ creativity in developing practical solutions that contribute to water conservation and management efficiency. He emphasized that supporting youth innovation is a cornerstone in achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development and fostering regional cooperation among African youth.
The awarded project was titled “Smart Irrigation and Agriculture.”
