 Diagnostic and educational medical convoy to Al-Mustafa Orphanage in Andalusia district in 6th of October City

Based on the approval of the University Council and the Ministry of Social Solidarity for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery to conduct periodic visits to conduct medical examinations on orphans in orphanages in 6th of October City, the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, President of 6th of October University, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Amr Nadim, Dean of the College, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ezzat El-Gharib, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, organized a convoy for Al-Mustafa Orphanage in Andalusia District, 6th of October City. Contact was made with Ms. Amani El-Gharbawy, Director of the Orphanage, and the coordination of the convoy. The College of Dentistry, the College of Physical Therapy, and the College of Nursing participated in the convoy. The orphanage includes (29) boys. (11) of the orphanage’s children were examined, and (3) cases were transferred to the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic to complete the examinations and treatment for free at 6th of October University Hospital. (2) cases were transferred to the Internal Medicine Clinic, one case to the General Surgery Clinic, one case to the Urology Clinic, 7 cases to the Educational Dental Department, and 3 cases to the Physical Therapy Clinic to conduct the necessary examinations and perform surgeries. Random blood sugar was measured for the orphanage’s children for early detection of diabetes, and blood pressure was measured. Awareness was also conducted. For all those present at the home, about food poisoning, its types, causes, symptoms, methods of diagnosis, complications, and methods of prevention. Also, awareness was made about the dangers of smoking, and (7) workers at the home were examined. The convoy began at exactly eleven o’clock in the morning and ended at exactly one-thirty in the afternoon.
