Course Description
PAS 307 &308 Parasitology I&2
Description:
It aims at providing knowledge concerning biological, epidemiological & ecological aspects of parasites causing diseases to humans. It enables students to understand the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations & complications of parasitic diseases. It allows students to reach diagnosis & know general outline of treatment, prevention & control of diseases. It provides students with knowledge about endemic parasites & national problems in Egypt.

First Semester (Parasitology I.Code 307):
1.Introduction
2.Helminthology:
-Trematoda
-Cestoda
-Nematoda
Second Semester (Parasitology II. Code 308 ):
1.Protzoology
2. Entomology
Teaching Methods
1.Lectures (2 credit hours)
2.Practical sections, ( 1credit hour)
3. Students seminars, oral presentations & prepared essays
Attendance Criteria:
The minimal acceptable attendance is 70% in order to sit for the final examination.
Examination Description:
Formative & Summative exams
- Written, case study & oral for assessment of knowledge and understanding
- Practical for assessment of practical skills
- Research for training the student how to get medical information from library and internet websites and how to organize and present knowledge)
Mark Distribution:
A total of 100 marks equally divided between the two semesters as follows:
30% Year Activity
40% Written End-Term Exam
30% Practical & Oral End-Term Exam
