Symposium on drug safety and the importance of monitoring drug side effects
 
As part of the ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development and constructive community participation, the Faculty of Engineering participated through the Community Service and Environment Development Sector under the supervision of the Sector Head, Prof. Dr. Henar Abu El-Majd, a group of faculty members, assistant staff and a group of college students who attended a seminar organized by the Community Service and Environment Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy entitled “Pharmaceutical Safety and the Importance of Monitoring Side Effects of Drugs.” Several important topics related to drug safety and how to deal with side effects of drugs were discussed, where it was explained:
The importance of drug safety: The need to adhere to drug safety standards was emphasized to ensure the health of patients and avoid harm resulting from the use of drugs.
Monitoring side effects of drugs: How to monitor and record side effects that may appear in patients as a result of using drugs, and the importance of this monitoring in improving the quality of health care.
Reporting side effects: Explaining how to report side effects of drugs by doctors, pharmacists and the public, and the importance of these reports in strengthening the health system.
Cooperation between different parties: Discussing the role of health authorities and pharmaceutical companies in cooperation to improve the pharmacovigilance system
