The Faculty of Physical Therapy, in collaboration with the university hospital’s Pediatric Physical Therapy Outpatient Clinic, celebrated Autism Day throughout the day on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

The event aimed to raise cultural awareness among mothers about autism in children and the importance of early detection. Prof. Dr. Faten Hassan Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Samar Salem provided guidance to mothers on childhood behaviors that warrant a professional evaluation.

The event also included re-evaluations and therapeutic consultations for mothers, conducted by members of the Pediatric Physical Therapy Department: Prof. Dr. Shadia Abdel Aziz, Dr. Sara Shawki, and Dr. Ahmed Gamal. Tailored therapeutic and rehabilitation programs were designed for each child to ensure continuity and optimal improvement.

To enhance the skills of physical therapy interns, Dr. Shimaa Shawki conducted a workshop to train them on diagnostic scales for autism, specifically the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) and the Autism Spectrum Rating Scale (ASRS).
