The great cartoonist Amr Fahmy opens the first comics exhibition at the Faculty of Mass Communication, 6th of October University.
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Mustafa Ghorab, President of 6th of October University, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dina Farouk Abu Zeid, Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication Arts, the great artist Amr Fahmy, the news cartoonist, opened today the first comics exhibition of the Faculty of Media at 6th of October University. He was received and welcomed by Professor Dr. Mamdouh Mustafa Ghorab, President of the University.
A large number of college students from various academic groups participated in the exhibition and presented creative works that addressed various issues, including the environment, society, women's issues, rationalization of consumption, and bullying, within a framework that reflects artistic and cultural awareness of societal issues.
After the opening, a symposium was held in which the guest of honor of the exhibition, the great artist Amr Fahmy, spoke, discussing his experience in the art of caricature and the art exhibitions he held inside and outside Egypt, such as his exhibition at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Italy and France. He also discussed the importance of comics as an influential means of expression in addressing societal issues, stressing the role of art in shaping awareness and building thought among young people. He presented to the students an evaluation of the works that were displayed at the college's first comics exhibition.
At the end of the events, Professor Dr. Dina Farouk Abu Zeid, Dean of the College, honored the great artist Amr Fahmy, by presenting him with the College Shield in appreciation of his artistic contributions and support for student activities, and his active participation as a guest of honor in the festival.
The exhibition was organized under the supervision of Professor Dr. Marwa Sobhi, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and Head of the Public Relations and Advertising Department, with the participation of Dr. Enas Al-Saeed, a teacher in the department, and Professor Aya Salah and Professor Aya Mahmoud, assistant teachers in the department
