 Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Yasser El-Dakroury, Vice President for Graduate Studies, and Prof. Dr. Sabah El-Sharkawy, Dean of the Faculty, the Departments of Medical-Surgical Nursing and Critical Care and Emergency Nursing organized the Third Scientific Conference entitled “The Pulse of Transformation: Nursing at the Heart of the Artificial Intelligence Revolution,” on Monday, May 4, 2026. The conference was chaired by Prof. Dr. Naglaa El-Sayed Mahdi, Professor of Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nafisa Mustafa Abdullah, Head of the Department of Critical Care and Emergency Nursing. The first scientific session addressed establishing the role of nursing as a leader in the artificial intelligence revolution while maintaining a humanistic approach. It discussed the opportunities, challenges, and clinical applications of artificial intelligence in nursing, its impact on medical equipment and its associated risks, with a focus on translating theoretical knowledge into practical application.

Future Nursing: AI with a Human-Centered Approach

Also participating was Dr. Reham Adel, Assistant Professor of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University, on the topic:

Redefining Nursing in the AI ​​Era: Opportunities, Challenges, and Clinical Applications

Assistant Professor Dr. Mona El-Naklawy, Assistant Professor in the Medical Devices Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, 6th of October University, presented a lecture titled "AI Impact on Medical Equipment Field: Evolution & Risks." The first session concluded with the fourth lecture, titled "From Knowledge to Practice," presented by Eng. Ayman Ahmed, a certified CPR instructor at Zamk Training Center (ACLS & BLS). The second scientific session focused on the practical applications of artificial intelligence in nursing, from the shift to continuous intelligent monitoring to bridge the gap in patient deterioration, to improving the quality of care through "smart nursing," analyzing clinical data, and integrating AI solutions to achieve sustainable intensive care ("Green ICU"). With the participation of Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Lecturer in the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Beni Suef University, a lecture entitled "From Intermittent to Intelligent: Closing the Surveillance Gap with AI in General Care Nursing" was presented. Dr. Abeer Ashraf, Lecturer of Critical Care and Emergency Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, Capital University - Helwan (formerly), also participated with a lecture entitled "AI in Nursing: Transforming the Future of Clinical Practice."

The session continued with the third lecture, entitled "Smart Nursing: Using AI to Improve Quality Care," presented by Dr. Fawzia Abdel-Hakim, Director of the Quality Department at Hospital 57357. The second scientific session concluded with a presentation by Mr. Ahmed Ali Mahmoud, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Critical Care and Emergency Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, 6th of October University, entitled "Green ICU Revolution: Integrating AI-Driven Solutions for Sustainable Critical Care."

The conference was attended by a number of faculty members from nursing colleges, in addition to several students. The conference was organized by Dr. Gihan Mohamed, Dr. Zeinab Adham, and Dr. Hani Girgis.
