The vision:
The Department of Medical-Surgery Nursing seeks to distinguish between the scientific departments of the corresponding colleges in the Egyptian universities through excellence and advanced performance in the provision of nursing care and distinguished applied research.
Department Mission: Preparing students who are cognitively and skillfully qualified to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in various disciplines based on competence, a critical thinking approach, and the opportunity for self-education, as well as participating in advanced applied research to enable them to compete locally and regionally.
About the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing
The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing is the main pillar and backbone of the nursing specialties at the college and includes (5) faculty members, an appointed teaching assistant, and (12) seconded members and research students. The department contributes to the preparation of bachelor's degree graduates by teaching four nursing courses (Fundamentals of Nursing 1, Fundamentals of Nursing 2, Medical Nursing, and Surgical Nursing). These courses lay the foundation for the study of nursing at the university level by providing scientific material consistent with modern nursing concepts and clinical scientific skills. This aims to prepare distinguished students who are motivated toward continuous learning and qualified to provide comprehensive nursing care in various medical-surgical nursing specialties to adult patients and healthy individuals in hospitals and various health centers, in line with labor market requirements, while also conducting advanced scientific research. Department Vision: The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing aspires to be distinguished among the scientific departments in similar faculties at Egyptian universities through outstanding and advanced performance in providing nursing care and outstanding applied research. Department Mission: To prepare students who are knowledgeably and skillfully qualified to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in various specialties, based on competency and a critical thinking approach. This includes providing opportunities for self-education and participation in advanced applied research, enabling them to compete locally and regionally. Department Objectives:
1. Prepare students with scientific competence in various fields of adult care and familiar with scientific research methods.
2. Enhance student performance in the college's adult nursing laboratories and training facilities in various health services.
3. Enhance the academic and skill levels of faculty members and support staff through developing and updating scientific research methods and holding seminars and training courses.
4. Participate in supporting the continuous learning process for nursing staff at October University Hospitals by holding seminars, cooperation protocols, and ongoing training courses.
5. Raise students' awareness of the problems facing the nursing profession, analyze them, and contribute to their solutions by participating in nursing research for the continuous development of the field of nursing.
