The Clinical Pharmacy Unit has organized the 7th training course under the rubric "Recent Trends in Emergency Medicine - Role of the Clinical Pharmacist" on Saturdays, 5, 12 March, 2016. The aim of the training course was to promote the intellectual and professional skills of the final-years pharmacy students, preparing them for the current pre-requisites for the work market. The Unit has recruited a group of highly professional trainers from among the professors of Critical Care Medicine, Faculty of Medicine (Kasr Al-Aini), Cairo University. The proceedings of the course have focused on recent trends in emergency medicine and the participatory role of clinical pharmacists in designing and following-up of pharmacotherapeutic regimens in the field of emergency and critical care medicine. The training course sessions involved detailed study of some clinical emergency cases which clinical pharmacists can encounter in hospitals. The significance of clinical pharmacists as "drug experts" and "health-care providers" was also discussed. The closing session of the course displayed therapeutic compliance issues including current definition of compliance, causes and adverse outcomes of non-compliance emphasizing the role of clinical pharmacist in improving patient adherence to therapeutic plan to achieve the desired therapeutic outcomes. Training certificates were granted to the trainees at the end of the course.
