Dean’s Welcome message

The Faculty of Medicine of the October 6 University in Cairo is the first private faculty of medicine in Egypt.  We have been dedicated since the beginning to provide high quality medical education and have been adapted to the advances that are occurring in the field. We are adopting, in addition to interactive lectures, various new models of training to provide a competency-based learning to our students while making use of simulation, personal and professional development courses, team-based learning, case based learning and interdisciplinary teaching approaches. In addition, we are adopting the latest state of the art technologies in simulation including the integration of high-fidelity models in the skill lab as well as the Sectra platform.

new Enrollment Management System integrated with a new Learning Management System have been put into place. This will allow students to better access the different educational activities provided by the faculty, an easier access to the academic advising and better interaction with faculty members.

This year we are adopting new bylaws for our students. The new Bylaws have been devised to foster integration and allow for early clinical exposure of the undergraduate students. We are also implementing new bylaws for the training of the fresh graduates of the 5+2 bachelors which allows a better training and insurance of the acquisition of the requested competencies and entrusted professional activities.

Our first of post graduate students, (Masters & Diploma degrees) graduated this year. We are accepting students for 27 programs and are being prepared for the start of acceptance of students for the doctorate degree of medicine.

All This is aimed to prepare expert clinicians with adequate up to date evidence-based medical knowledge while developing the required technical and mental skills so as to cope with the requirements of our everchanging practice.

Community health problems form one of our priorities. Our strategy is to provide the community with a competent physician able to deal with the patients’ health problems effectively, efficiently within the limits of low resources that might be available and while maintaining the highest degree of ethical behavior and conduct.

Finally, it gives me a great pleasure to welcome the junior students, from Egypt, MENA region and Africa who joined our faculty this year. I am also congratulating them for getting prepared to join our noble profession. I would like further to advise our senior students to continuously upgrade their medical knowledge and skills and adopt a self, life-long learning approach.
