Preparing Pharmacy Students to a Project-Based World

The faculty of pharmacy at O6U has held a scientific trip to freshman students, to visit the factory of Haraz and the Hamzawy street for trading natural seeds. The trip was under the supervision of Ass. Prof. Dr Samir Osman, vice dean for environment and community service, as a part of the research project for Medicinal Plants course.
Students have observed:
- Different ways to manufacture oils.
- Preparation and filling of honey.
- Different kinds of seeds in the Egyptian market.
The trip is considered a leap in the educational project of “learn, apply, create your startup!” for freshmen students.
Every section had the opportunity to squeeze out different seeds and obtain the oil, which were integrated into different pharmaceutical products made by students. Such manufacturing is an added value.
