Medical diagnostic and educational convoy to the Orphanage of the Soldiers of Rahman in 6th of October City

Based on the approval of the University Council and the Ministry of Social Solidarity for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery to conduct periodic visits to sign a medical examination for orphans in orphanages in 6th of October City, the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, President of 6th of October University, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Timraz, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Amr Nadim, Dean of the College, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Azza Al-Gharib, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, organized a visit to the Orphanage of the Soldiers of Rahman in the Eighth District of 6th of October City on Wednesday, 12/18/2024, where contact was made with Ms. Abeer Abdel Fattah, Director of the Orphanage, and coordination for the visit. The Orphanage includes (35) girls. (25) of the girls of the Orphanage were examined and (5) cases were transferred to the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic to complete the examinations and treatment for free at the 6th of October University Hospital, and (15) cases were transferred to the Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic to examine them and perform the appropriate medical procedure for them. Random blood sugar was measured for the girls for early detection of diabetes. Awareness was made to all those present in the Orphanage about food poisoning, its types, causes, symptoms, methods of diagnosis, complications and methods of prevention. Awareness was also made about the Safe Women's Unit at the College Its role in serving the community, ways of communicating with the unit, the patient’s rights and duties, and the harms of smoking. Three (3) administrative staff working at the home were also examined. The convoy began at exactly eleven o’clock in the morning and ended at exactly one-thirty in the afternoon.
