As part of the College of Dentistry at October 6 University’s keen interest in welcoming first-year students, an introductory seminar and reception were held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Lecture Hall 4210, in the presence of the Dean, Prof. Mohsen Abi Al-Hassan, the College Vice Deans Prof. Hadeel Sabry, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Yusra Nashat, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies, as well as the department heads and faculty members.The seminar aimed to welcome the new students and congratulate them on the beginning of their university journey, as well as to introduce them to the academic regulations, study systems, and evaluation methods. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of adhering to professional values and conduct within the campus, and encouraged active participation in student and research activities that contribute to the development of their personal and professional skills. The seminar also provided an opportunity to get acquainted with the faculty members.
The college ensured the day began with the national salute and the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Then, the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Abi Al-Hassan, welcomed the new students. The speech delivered by him and the vice-deans included motivational advice and guidance encouraging students to make the most of their university years both academically and personally. The seminar program included several sections to introduce students to all aspects of college life, as follows: 1) Opening the day with the national salute and the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. 2) The speech by the Dean to welcome the students, which included some motivational advice and guidance encouraging them to make the most of their university years both academically and personally. 3) The Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs introduced the students to the academic regulations, presented the academic schedules, and introduced the faculty members from the different departments. 4) The Director of the Registration and Academic Advising Unit introduced them to the following: • Steps for students to register a username and password on the university's official website. • Steps for registering courses on the website.
How to view the schedule of exam hall bookings· The importance of guidance and the role of academic support5) The e-learning coordinator introduced the various uses of the Microsoft Teams program.6) The Quality Unit Director explained that the college has obtained accreditation from the Quality Assurance Authority, and explained its importance and the student's role in it.7) The coordinator of the Committee for Follow-up of International Students welcomed the international students and introduced the committee's activities.8) The College Youth Leader and the Director of the Youth Welfare Department presented student activities and how to participate.9) Representatives of senior students, the exemplary students for the 2024-2025 academic year, and representatives of student families delivered motivational speeches. They also provided advice on time management and the importance of balancing academic and recreational activities. This was followed by an entertainment segment where students asked general knowledge questions and distributed symbolic gifts. Afterwards, the new students were taken on a tour to get acquainted with various campus locations and the hospital to visit the clinics.10) Some commemorative photos were taken for the first-year students.
