Awareness Campaign: “The Illusion of Safe Smoking – The Chemistry of Deception and Selling Illusions” -Wednesday, April 22, 2026
Organized by Faculty of Applied Arts in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy, October 6 University
In accordance with the approved plan of the Community Service Affairs Agency at the Faculty of Applied Arts for the academic year 2025–2026, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, President of October 6 University; Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Dr. Mona Abu Tabl, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts; and Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Ghobashy, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy — this joint awareness initiative between the two faculties carries significant educational and health value.
The campaign aims to expose misleading concepts that promote the idea of “safe smoking,” emphasizing that all forms of smoking — cigarettes, shisha, and electronic cigarettes — contain toxic substances that harm the respiratory and cardiovascular systems and increase cancer risks. Through scientific explanation and visual communication, the campaign highlights the chemical deception behind vaping, clarifying that the emitted aerosol is a chemical vapor, not harmless water steam, thereby protecting public health and raising awareness among university students and the wider community.
