Under the auspices of Prof. Mona Ahmed El-Halawany, Dean of the Faculty of languages and Translation, and Assoc. Prof. Gehan Mohamed Anwar, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Community Service and Environmental Affairs Committee held a workshop entitled “Teaching Advanced Conversation: Interactive tasks and Activities;” the first in a series of workshops to the professional development of members of staff. The workshop was presented by Mona AlaaEldin, Assistant Lecturer at the English Department. Vice-deans, department chiefs, members of staff and teaching assistants attended the workshop as well as a number of part-time members of staff. The workshop witnessed rich discussions on learning styles, the enhancement of the student-centered approach, effective time management, interactive online tasks and learner autonomy which provided food for thought.
