*Report on the Seminar Titled "Carbon Footprint: Calculation Methods and Reduction Approaches"*
 
On Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels organized a seminar entitled "Carbon Footprint: Calculation Methods and Reduction Approaches" in the VIP hall of the Central Library at October 6 University.
 
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed Rekha, an advisor at the Environmental Affairs Agency for the Greater Cairo Governorates. 
 
The Community Service Committee from the Faculty of Pharmacy was actively represented at the event by:
- Dr. Samir Othman (Vice Dean for Community Service and Chairman of the Committee)
- Dr. Mohamed Turki, Lecturer in the Microbiology Department and Committee Member 
- Dr. Michael Kamel Halim, Lecturer in the Chemistry Department and Committee Member 
 
A detailed discussion was held regarding the carbon footprint, defining its significance and the associated dangers, as well as methods for its calculation and ways to reduce it. The role of Egypt, represented by all institutions, was emphasized in the ongoing efforts to measure and mitigate the carbon footprint due to its serious implications for both Egypt and the world at large. 
 
The committee adopted recommendations aiming to implement a comprehensive plan for measuring the carbon footprint within the Faculty through specified equations, online resources, and strategies for reduction, thereby contributing effectively to community service and environmental preservation.
