Annual Conference of the Theodore Bilharz Research Institute 2025: A New Horizon for Scientific Innovation in Health and Medical Practices

Upon the kind invitation of Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shomais, Director of the Institute, Dr. Sayed Saleh, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Dr. Mona Abdel-Motagally, Professor of Plant Chemistry at the Institute, Professor Dr. Samir Othman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Faculty of Pharmacy, October 6 University, attended the annual conference of the Theodore Bilharz Research Institute for the year 2025.

The conference was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and presided over by Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shomais, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, who announced the launch of its activities on February 12–13.

The opening ceremony began with a speech delivered by Professor Dr. Mohamed Abbas Shomais, Director of the Theodore Bilharz Research Institute and President of the Conference. He welcomed the esteemed attendees, including scientists, researchers, and experts in the fields of medicine and scientific research, expressing his delight at their gathering at this important annual event, which aims to enhance scientific cooperation and exchange experiences between various local and international institutions.

The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of a large number of prominent figures. Opening speeches were delivered by Professor Dr. Omar Sherif Omar, Secretary of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals; His Excellency Mr. Jürgen Schulz, German Ambassador to Egypt; Professor Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs; Major General Dr. Tarek El-Nagdy, President of the Military Medical Academy; Professor Dr. Adel Adawy, President of the Executive Office of the Arab Board of Health Specializations; Professor Dr. Ahmed Taha, President of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation; and Professor Dr. Amr Helmy, Former Minister of Health.

The event was also graced by the presence of a distinguished group of heads of research institutes and centers, including Professor Dr. Mona Abdel-Latif, Director of the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications; Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ramzy, Director of the Petroleum Research Institute; Professor Dr. Abeer Moneer, President of the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries; Professor Dr. Mohamed Gamal, President of the National Institute of Standards; and Professor Dr. Ibrahim Ghayyad, President of the Central Metallurgical R&D Institute.
