Celebrating World Patient Safety Week: A Pharmaceutical Vigilance Awareness Day
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rifaat, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Samir Osman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the faculty organized an awareness event on Monday, March 10, 2025, in celebration of World Patient Safety Week. The event was held in collaboration with the Drug Information Center at the hospital, the Community Service and Environmental Development Agency at the Faculty of Medicine, and the Pharmacovigilance Center at the Egyptian Drug Authority.
The event featured an educational seminar on pharmacovigilance and the importance of reporting adverse drug reactions, with a presentation by a delegation from the Egyptian Drug Authority, including Dr. Lobna Sami, who provided a detailed presentation on the role of pharmacovigilance in enhancing patient safety and the mechanisms for reporting harmful drug interactions to ensure optimal drug use.
The seminar was attended by several faculty leaders, including Prof. Dr. Amr Nedim, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Azza Gharib, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Environmental Affairs, in addition to doctors from the university hospital, clinical pharmacists, intern doctors, teaching assistants, and students.
This event is part of the faculty's commitment to promoting a drug safety culture and enhancing evidence-based pharmaceutical and medical practices to ensure the provision of safe and effective healthcare.
