The campaign aimed to raise awareness among patients about the importance of pharmacovigilance and reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs).
The campaign was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Refaat, Dean of the Faculty, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Samir Othman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, with the participation of first-year pharmacy students.
Key Activities:
-
Patients were introduced to the concept of pharmacovigilance and its role in monitoring the safety of medications they are using.
-
Instructions were provided on how to report adverse drug reactions through official channels of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA).
-
Patients received guidance on potential drug interactions and the importance of sharing their full medication history with doctors and pharmacists.
-
Educational brochures were distributed, offering simplified instructions on the safe use of medications and how to report unwanted symptoms or side effects.
The campaign received significant engagement from patients and their families, who expressed a strong interest in learning more about their role in reporting drug-related issues. This interaction reflects a growing awareness of the importance of medication safety in improving health outcomes.
