Introduction
One of the most important priorities of the Faculty of Physical Therapy, October 6 University, is scientific research, which is one of the most important goals of the college and university. Because distinguished scientific research contributes to solving some societal problems, the Faculty of Physical Therapy at October 6 University strives to achieve the highest standards of scientific research and excellence in various fields of knowledge while adhering to the ethics of scientific research. To achieve this goal, the college has formed a scientific research ethical committee.
Vision of the Scientific Research Ethical Committee:
Keeping up with ethical controls in the field of scientific research that govern the conduct and publication of scientific theses and research.
Misssion of the Scientific Research Ethical Committee
Improving and adhering to the standards of scientific research ethics to keep pace with international standards followed in scientific research.
Objectives of the Scientific Research Ethical Committee:
The Scientific Research Ethical Committee aims to preserve the rights and safety of humans/other beings in research, as well as members of society in general, within the framework of the university and college research plan. The committee reviews the ethical aspects of all research proposals and scientific dissertations. The committee is charged with ensuring compliance with the ethics emanating from the texts of the Declaration of Helsinki, its annexes, and the proposed rules. From the World Health Organization for the year 2000 through:
· Establishing standards for scientific research ethics in various research fields.
· Raising awareness of the importance of adhering to the ethics of scientific research.
· Integrating the concepts of scientific research ethics into teaching curricula related to scientific research.
· Protecting the rights and health of individuals participating in scientific research
· Ensuring that patients and healthy people are not exposed to risks from applied research
· Protecting living organisms from harm.

The structure of the Scientific Research Ethical Committee was approved by the College Council No. (90) On 1/17/2024.
Committee meetings:
The committee meets regularly at least once a month (the first Wednesday of every month) or every two weeks, depending on the size of work. The meeting is legal in the presence of two-thirds of the committee members.
Tasks of the Scientific Research Ethical Committee:
- Giving approvals to protocols for scientific theses (master’s and doctoral) and research conducted within October 6 University and its affiliated institutions.
- The student submits the protocol to be reviewed ethically and to the extent of its commitment to the accepted rules of scientific research, after its technical and scientific approval by the listening committees formed by the department councils.
- For free research, the principal researcher submits the research protocol directly to the committee to review it from an ethical standpoint and the extent of its adherence to the accepted rules of scientific research. The committee then notifies the council of the head of the relevant department in the event of approval.
- Maintaining the safety of researchers and research participants and applying biosafety and environmental protection standards.
- Providing support and technical advice on ethical aspects to researchers wishing to conduct research at the college and disseminating scientific research ethics among faculty members, researchers, and students.
- Follow up on the scientific application of scientific theses and research and the application of the law protecting intellectual property rights.
- Studying the research methodologies presented by researchers in relation to human safety and preserving human dignity in human-related research.
- Studying the research methodologies presented by researchers regarding not harming animals when conducting scientific research.
- Ensure that minors, those lacking legal capacity, or people with special needs are not exploited in research.
- Reviewing research plans in order to recommend their acceptance, further action, or rejection.
- Monitoring the ethics of scientific research in terms of aspects related to values such as honesty, integrity, justice, equality and objectivity.
- Preserving the rights of all parties involved in research and experiments carried out on humans and animals.
- Distributing research projects (Protocol) to members of the committee or outside professors according to seniority for review and conformity with the ethical standards of scientific research.
- Preparing the necessary forms that will be used, including the following:
- Research protocol evaluation form by reviewers.
- The committee’s final decision form.
- Annual and final report form from the principal researcher.
- Periodically following up on aspects of research ethics and scientific integrity of research that has been previously approved to be conducted by the committee and ensuring the safety of research participants.
- Considering researchers’ grievances regarding objection to the arbitration results.
- Ensure that the funding or financial support body has no interference in the results of the research or the method of its implementation, and that this body takes into account ensuring the rights of those subject to the research and preserving their dignity and privacy, and verifies that the research project has met all ethical research requirements, and ensures that the research outcomes are not... It has serious consequences for the individual, nation, or religion, and its results have a positive impact.
- Submitting an annual report on all committee activities to the Supreme Committee for Scientific Research Ethics.
