The Pharmacology and Biochemistry Departments have organized a training course entitled: "The First Steps to Become a Researcher"; A Research Protocol for Pharmacological and Biochemical Studies. The course was delivered over 3 days (Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 1, 2 and 4 March, 2017), in addition to 2nd training course on (Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 11, 12 and 15 March, 2017).

The proceedings of the course focused on the main research protocol items as well as details of experimental design, animal handling, different routes of administration, and methods of anesthesia, collection of blood and tissue samples. The training course sessions also involved the induction of hepatotoxicity in rats using CCl4. Furthermore, the course also addressed the principles of different parameters for evaluating hepatotoxic effects of CCl4 as well as explanation of different types of ELISA technique.
