Under the auspices of Prof. Mamdouh Mostafa Ghorab, President of October 6 University; Prof. Hisham Temraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Eman Al-Azizi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Omaima Ghanem, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, and in cooperation with the China International Communications Group (CICG), the Faculty of Languages and Translation at October 6 University organized "The Chinese Proverbs Competition" on December 12, 2025.
Prof. Omaima Ghanem stated that the competition aims to enhance cultural exchange between Egyptian and Chinese students, with the participation of approximately 500 students from 22 Egyptian universities.
Prof. Omaima Ghanem added that the competition builds up on the success of its first edition, which saw the participation of more than 500 students from various Egyptian universities, in addition to a number of students from sisterly Arab countries, making it one of the most prominent cultural activities dedicated to strengthening civilizational communication between Egypt and the People’s Republic of China.
Dr. Sayed Saad, Youth Pioneer of the Faculty of Languages and Translation and Media Coordinator of the competition, noted that the most distinctive feature of this year’s edition is the first-place prize: a fully funded 10-day trip to China, in addition to cash prizes for the subsequent winners ranging from EGP 3,000 to EGP 5,000. It is to be mentioned that October 6 University ranked second; two students of the Chinese Department at the Faculty of Languages and Translation: Ahmed Yasser and Ibrahim Al-Gannam presented a very distinguished video on the Chinese Proverbs.
