In a forward-looking educational initiative that reflects current trends in modern pedagogy, the English Department at the Faculty of Languages and Translation, October 6 University, has introduced an innovative project entitled “The Use of Creative Drama in Teaching English Literature to Develop Students’ Life Communication Skills.” This notable achievement was led by Assistant Lecturer Sherihan Ismail as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to refine teaching practices and enhance the overall competence of its graduates.
The initiative centers on integrating creative drama techniques into the classroom by transforming literary texts into dynamic, interactive experiences, where students actively participate through performance, role-playing, and expressive activities. This approach effectively breaks down traditional barriers between students and literary texts, making learning more engaging and accessible. It also plays a significant role in developing oral communication skills, building self-confidence, and encouraging creative expression, while simultaneously strengthening teamwork and critical thinking.
The initiative has generated a high level of student engagement, enabling a deeper understanding of literary works and helping students connect them to real-life contexts. It has also enhanced their ability to use English effectively in a wide range of real-world situations. Overall, this effort reflects the faculty’s commitment to adopting active learning strategies and equipping students with essential life skills that align with the evolving demands of both local and global job markets.
