The English Department invited Prof. Dr. Jacqueline Jondot, Professor of English Literature at Toulouse University, France, to deliver a talk entitled "Islamic Heritage in Cairo." The talk was held on Wednesday March 2, 2016 at 9:30 am in lecture hall #304. The talk was attended by distinguished professors from the English department and students who enriched the gathering. Dr. Jondot introduced her penchant for photography of Cairo which was the highlight of the session followed by comments on the history of Cairo. She has shared many photos from her visits to Cairo which date back more than 40 years. Her interest in this city was clearly presented in her understanding of the long history and development of this country over the centuries. Moreover, she commented on the eclectic architecture of Cairo and how this was reflected in the character of the city and its people. The question and answer session was enriched with many questions from professor and students that lasted for more than 20 minutes during which time Dr. Jondot has successfully answered all the questions. The session culminated in a group photo and in granting Dr. Jondot the University plaque in recognition of her contribution. The session was organized and conducted in English by Prof. Dr. Sally Michael Hanna, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chair of the English department.
